"It's the end of the world as we know it" by Haibi & Stella (2)
Hello guys, here comes the strawberry team! After the deep consideration of this song and people's feedbacks on our first draft, we decide not to use the strawberries and focus on the composition of type.
We emphasize the rhythm and express the meaning of lyrics by playing games with words which also fits the cheerful tone of this song. Because it's all about "the end of the world", we use "Cracked" typeface in black and white only. What's more. We try to express the mess from the end of the world and the process of feeling change through the ink dots.
But we still not sure about whether it's too monotonous without any color? And how you guys think about the ink dots?
Look forward to your feedbacks.:)
Eh...I have no idea the uploading will take THAT long!!!!!!!..EIGHT hours and still failed...
After i downsize the file and try different ways to upload, finally it is working now..... Thanks God.

Ollie Clarke, Paradise City
The song has a simple yet churning riff. I am going to try and mimic the flow and gritty sound of the song by alternating between clean and distressed type. All the words will consist of three layers directly on top of one another. The top layer being super clean, the bottom being really torn and ripped. In Adobe Aftereffects i can circulate through these layers quickly and smoothly (hopefully).
I'll Be Your Mirror - Nico and The Velvet Underground
This video is a different idea that I had, that unfortunately I haven't had time to develop properly and I'm disappointed with how it has turned out. I also wanted to have the lyrics written in the mirror using condensation, however when I tried this it became very difficult to read... It is the first video I've made, and it's the best I could do with the amount of time I had after messing up my first idea.

'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds'
The video itself is backing the actual lyrics and meanings that they used in the song, while color is playing the role of amplifying the whole nostalgic atmosphere of the music.
The idea is still the synchronization of the two but without losing the sense of freedom that the difference between the interaction of the sound with the image gives.
In order for that to be more obvious as well as to resemble in a more convincing way to a karaoke interface, text is placed.
Ruth Johnson Final Karaoke
The table setting scenario developed from the idea of family relationships and the dramas that occur between family members, as gathering together as a family tends to occur mainly at meal times.
The idea for symbolism with the hand movements and gestures came from sign language and makaton.
It doesn't quite work as a karaoke video.
I hope the sound works due to copyright issues.

All My Little Words
The type is written in tea leaves, it's all stop motion, something I'm new to and now know how to do! This is a very low quality video as I'm incapable of uploading it onto YouTube or converting the file size just a little smaller..
The music was recorded with my flatmates and myself; credit to Joe Wardle and Jessica Townson. This was done to enable a "karaoke version" where there is no main vocals. I will upload both so you can see the difference.

I find this song quite romantic and since I am not in the most romantic period of my life for at least the last twenty years I find it really interesting working on it.
The idea behind that video is to synch the motion of the image with the audio but not in a perfect way, as well as to apply different colours for different parts of the song,
in order to create a small gap between the reaction of the image with the sound.
I initially thought not to include any text and play with the video according to the actual music by editing it.
I think I will stick to that plan.
(this is only a small sample)
Enjoy.

Adam Donnelly: Rolling Stones- Get off my cloud
Hello, Sorry this is mega mega late.
I had trouble getting invited to this, along with other technical gremlins.
I plan to do my karaoke interface all typographic from stencils which will be spray painted. I tried to use after effect but was unable to achieve a desired effect, it all seemed to come out so generic.
This is something I done not so long ago, although not for this project I think it gives a general feel of something along the lines of in which I want to achieve.
Once spray painted I intend to photograph and put into sequence on flash.
At current I am mainly cutting out.

Thea: The Words That Maketh Murder
Thea: The Words That Maketh Murder by PJ Harvey
This is my first draft/ the early stages of my Karaoke video for PJ Harvey's 'The Words that Maketh Murder' I wanted to post it up in this state so you can get the general gist of my idea and how im' going to further it.
The Album 'Let England Shake' is based around the notion of writing home from war like a modern day Siegfried Sassoon. So I want to incorporate a level of handwriting in to the film with some eery footage.
The verses are sung quite fast so its quite difficult to fit the text in in a legible way so that the film is functional as a karaoke film so this is something I intend to develop.
JOY DIVISION. DIGITAL.
On my project I want to experiment with ink and water and kind of "floating the ink" to create some effects with it.
The whole clip will be in b&w to underline the kind of dark feeling of the song.
I don't want to use any digital type to create a contrast to the title "digital".
The attached Image shows an example for the look. But there will be different fonts used to seperate between the phrases and the meanings.
A small sclip will follow soon.

Kraftwerk - pocket calculator
I would like to create an interactive video using Xboxs' Kinect sensor and open source programming available for it, imposing a basic alternate Kraftwerk identity over the singer.
I found this from a recent graduate of Brighton, who did this:

But mine will look more so like this:

George Michael
Hi guys,
Sorry I havent been able to finish the video, but here is my concept and some screen shots.
For George Michael's song, it has a lot of dirty lines like "Well I guess it would be nice
If I could touch your body." So for the music video i want to do a screen record of random conversation i can have and/or scripted conversations on msn or something, and interact with different online videos even background images. And play with the mac zoom in/out function.

ruth johnson karaoke first draft
-this is my first draft for the song 'family affair' by sly and the family stone.
-there are two more meal scenes that appear later on.
-i tried to give the video a slight 70's feel.
-i understand that it doesn't quite work as a karaoke video seeing as i've replaced some words with actions and symbols.
-it is hard work directing parents!

SWIMMING SONG
It will be like a little man walking with a changing background, and lyrics on the left side of the sceen (I have designed specic type for the song)
I have thought about that because my song is very visual. The singer is describing many ways to swim in different places.
here is the link of my song.

Shoop by Salt n Pepper. Estelle & Amie
Velvet Underground "beginning to see the light" by Berenike
I chose to combine some sequences from old video material reduced to black and white, showing their first gig at the Factory, with a colorful font that seems to be typed live into the video. I used 4 different softwares (AI, AE, iMovie & DawnArk).
An anthem for drug, free love and the embassis of the 68s.
"All My Little Words" by The Magnetic Fields
No main vocals
I decided to record a cover of the original song so that I can freely take the main vocals out to make it more suitable for a karaoke video. This isn't a finished recording as it's still missing a cello piece and the vocals need refining. I've also been video recording the audio recording sessions which I hope to add to the final video, if I feel it is suitable.
As for the typography side of the project, it is still undergoing however I'm learning how to use After Effects from scratch so there is nothing worth seeing to put up. If it proves too difficult, I will be using stop motion animation.
Prince "KISS" by Olga
The "Kiss" song was written in '86, it was a hit at the time, style - funk.
I wanted to support the mood of this simple unpretentious songs. So I decided that it would be a simple video, built on the dynamics of words and colors.
I also want to maintain the rhythm. I chose relatively simple way to create a video - it is stop motion. This is just the beginning of the project, I was not completely sure in the choice of font. I probably will change it all)
After I did the first few seconds I realized that I need to make all words more contrast in their size, to add more color and more dynamic.
Waiting for your feedbacks!
UB40 RED RED WINE
However my initial idea was using typography on the teeth. The reason for this is because red wine stains teeth, in a similar way to which the singers affection and heart break towards his lover is stained on him. The lips, I thought could convey the aloof female, as if, when the singer thinks of how he feels he imagines his lover having fun, unaware. I'm not sure if this is appropriate though, and it has given me a massive jaw ache after two words, I would appreciate some feedback on both ideas!

Lina Adamsson, Colours
I'm using simple techniques to try and create some movement into the lyrics. The interface is done by hand and will be partly photographed, partly filmed for longer sequences, and you simply follow the light for direction. I've placed the words according to the notes in which they're sung, and divided some of the words into syllables. Hopefully that will make it a little easier to follow the melody if you've never heard the song before. (This might only be clear to me, but it's how I see music.)
As this is very much a work in progress I've only uploaded a few seconds. I know it's hard to comment on what you can't see, but try and imagine this as an image of sound expanding with colours and light the more we listen to it. At least that's what I'm aiming for.
