Ruth Johnson Final Karaoke

Here is my final video for Sly and the Family Stone's 'Family Affair.'
The table setting scenario developed from the idea of family relationships and the dramas that occur between family members, as gathering together as a family tends to occur mainly at meal times.
The idea for symbolism with the hand movements and gestures came from sign language and makaton.
It doesn't quite work as a karaoke video.
I hope the sound works due to copyright issues.
Morrison's makes nice cream cakes!

  1. Really bloody good! Our fave :) loving your plates the writing in the tea bags in the milk jugs and we would very much like on of those cream buns right now. Welldone lovely, a few timing things to sort out and the text in some places could be a bit more legible.

  2. This is a really great idea, really appripriate for the song. I love the bit where loads of forks start going for the potatoes. This real family dinner time for me. Could be more of this squabbling for food!

The silence at the beginning goes on for a while and I wondered if you might have tried adding some live sounds of the cracker being pulled etc which only last until the track fades in. At the moment it feels like I'm waiting for sound to come at the beginning, or like there's a problem with the sound. By having a tiny bit of sinuation sound it might place you in the scene better before you then get wrapped up in the track.

I also love the consistent use of aerial photography. It's great the way you stuck to this throughout and the transition comes through the simple change of table setting.
