ruth johnson karaoke first draft

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BU8aET9gGeo

-this is my first draft for the song 'family affair' by sly and the family stone.
-there are two more meal scenes that appear later on.
-i tried to give the video a slight 70's feel.
-i understand that it doesn't quite work as a karaoke video seeing as i've replaced some words with actions and symbols.
-it is hard work directing parents!

  1. I like the setting of a dinner table, its got a good basis but it would to be good to see some more experimentation with typography

  2. I think you have to rethink about the table situation, there is something strange with the left to right situation, but I'm not that sure. Its difficult to read the lines, by the way you are holding it (actually the lyrics are kind of small and I have problems to read it) into the camera. There is so much going on the video, maybe you can find a position where everything important takes place so the viewer don't have to search in it where the next line appears. But you are doing a good job, this is hard work, I know.

  3. love the idea and the whole dinner thing, i can understand the whole not being able to direct people in the specific way you want to. maybe you could slow down/speed up some parts of the song so it's in time? think it's crucial you can read the text in time to the lyrics. and making the text bolder so it's more legible. looking forward to the finished thing! :)

  4. This is so good! maybe you could do it so you have the text extract in the corner as if its zoomed in. E.g if for the card use the same handwriting just enlarged above it?

  5. The idea is great and that is interesting to work with your parents.I am curious about why you start from tearing at the candy-like thing? And i only catch the word "to learn","and"..Can you leave enough time for us to catch the lyrics.
